Sarajevo Airport and Sarajevo Film Festival Continue Cooperation

Sarajevo International Airport upholds its support for the Sarajevo Film Festival, one of the most significant cultural events in Southeast Europe. On this occasion, Dino Selimović, Acting Managing Director of Sarajevo International Airport, hosted a delegation from the Sarajevo Film Festival, led by the Director Jovan Marjanović. A sponsorship agreement was signed, continuing the multi-year successful cooperation between the Airport and the Festival.

"The connection between Sarajevo International Airport and the Sarajevo Film Festival is natural and strong. While the Festival brings artists, authors, producers, investors, journalists, and guests from all over the world to Sarajevo, the Airport is usually their first and last point of contact with our city and country," stated Dino Selimović, Acting Managing Director of Sarajevo Airport. He emphasized that the Sarajevo Film Festival has been successfully creating a positive story about Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina for more than thirty years.

"Few events have contributed as much to the international recognition of our capital city, the development of cultural tourism, and the creation of a modern image of Bosnia and Herzegovina as an open, creative, and hospitable country. As the main gateway to Bosnia and Herzegovina, we are proud to be part of this story. Our goal is for every guest arriving in Sarajevo to feel the welcome, professionalism, and special atmosphere that both our city and the Festival are known for worldwide. Together with the Festival organizers, we will strive again this year to make Sarajevo Airport an extension of the festival spirit, a meeting place for cultures, ideas, and people, and another reason for guests to carry the most beautiful memories from Sarajevo," Selimović said.

Through its development, the Festival has grown into one of the most important cultural events in Europe, making a huge contribution to a positive promotion of Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina worldwide. Thanks to its work, Sarajevo has become an unavoidable destination on the world cultural and film map, while receiving additional international validation with its status as a City of Film in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

This year, plans include a joint design and visual branding of a section of the passenger terminal, ensuring the festival atmosphere is present from the very first step upon passenger arrival in Sarajevo. This way, numerous guests, film professionals, and Festival visitors can feel the energy of the city immediately upon arrival, as it becomes a regional and European center of culture, art, and creative industries during the festival days.

"Domestic partners who have been growing with the Festival for years hold a special value for us, and Sarajevo International Airport is one we can always rely on. What makes us particularly happy is that the Festival's story expands beyond the cinemas into the very space through which Sarajevo communicates with the world. During the 32nd Festival, the Airport also marks 30 years since its reconstruction - three decades of being a bridge between the world and Sarajevo," stated Jovan Marjanović, the Director of the Sarajevo Film Festival.

This cooperation is especially unique because of the employees of Sarajevo International Airport, who have for years professionally, dedicatedly, and warmly welcomed and seen off tens of thousands of guests arriving in Sarajevo specifically for the Festival. Their work, commitment, and hospitality are an important part of the overall experience that visitors take home from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Sarajevo International Airport remains committed to supporting projects that contribute to the international promotion of Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, strengthening the tourism offer, developing culture, and improving the global connectivity of our country.

The 32nd Sarajevo Film Festival is going to be held from August 14 to 21, 2026.
