Meeting Held Between Representatives of Croatia Airlines and Sarajevo Airport

A meeting between representatives of Croatia Airlines, the Croatian national air carrier, and the Management of Sarajevo Airport was held at Sarajevo International Airport on April 24 2026 with the aim of further strengthening partnership relations, improving operational and commercial cooperation, and exchanging experiences in the context of contemporary challenges and development opportunities in air transport.

The Croatia Airlines delegation was led by Jasmin Bajić, President of the Management Board, and  Slaven Žabo, Commercial Affairs Director; Snježana Krpan, Director of Croatia Airlines Sarajevo; and Tomislav Mihotić, State Secretary for Road Transport, Road Infrastructure and Inspection, and Air Transport of the Republic of Croatia. The meeting was also attended by Želimir Babogredac, President of the Management Board of Croatia Records.

Sarajevo Airport was represented by members of the Management Board, headed by Acting Director Dino Selimović and Acting Executive Director of Infrastructure Development Slobodan Kadijević, along with Vedrana Vikić Musić, Director of Airport Services Department.

The representatives of Croatia Airlines presented their development plans to the hosts, and during a constructive and open discussion, the importance of the long-standing, stable, and successful cooperation between Sarajevo Airport and Croatia Airlines was emphasized, as it represents one of the foundations of regional air connectivity. Special emphasis was directed towards the historical role of Croatia Airlines as the first airline to establish a scheduled route Zagreb–Sarajevo in 1996, immediately after the end of the siege of Sarajevo and the reopening of the Airport Sarajevo. At that time, this route had not only a transport but also a strong symbolic significance, reconnecting Sarajevo to Europe and the world. From then until today, Croatia Airlines has continuously operated two daily flights on this route, confirming its long-term commitment to the Bosnia and Herzegovina market, and in addition to Sarajevo, the company also operates flights to the Airport Mostar.

The meeting also addressed current market conditions, considering the intensive summer season expected in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the summer, Sarajevo will host several major international events attracting tourists from around the world, including a series of concerts by Dino Merlin at the “Asim Ferhatović Hase” Olympic Stadium – Koševo, the 32nd Sarajevo Film Festival, as well as numerous sports and cultural-entertainment events, further highlighting the importance of reliable and frequent air connectivity.

It was confirmed at the meeting that the 30th anniversary of cooperation between Sarajevo Airport and Croatia Airlines will be jointly marked in September 2026 through special events, promotional activities, and joint media campaigns. This significant anniversary will be an opportunity to highlight once again the strength and continuity of the partnership between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia, a member of the European Union, as well as to jointly define future directions for the development of air transport, improvement of regional connectivity, and the mobility of people, goods, and services.
