U.S. Embassy Representatives Visit Sarajevo International Airport

A meeting was held at Sarajevo International Airport between the Airport Management and representatives of the U.S. Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The purpose of the meeting was to exchange information on key operational topics and to strengthen mutual cooperation in the fields of aviation, passenger services, and logistics processes.

The U.S. Embassy delegation included:
Allison Stepinac, Economic Officer;
Edhem Branković, Economic Specialist;
Serra Pehlivan, DHS Advisor;
Ana Garret, General Service Officer; and
Almir Arapović, Supervisory Travel Officer.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the significant increase in passenger numbers at Sarajevo Airport, as well as ways to enhance the overall passenger experience, with a particular focus on diplomatic travelers. In this context, an initiative was considered to clearly mark a designated lane for arriving diplomatic passengers, which would facilitate and speed up their passage through passport control — in accordance with legal procedures and with approval from the relevant authorities.

Following the meeting, the guests toured key areas of the airport terminal, including the Business Lounge and Premium Lounge, where facilities and services intended for premium passengers were presented.

The discussion also included the possibility of Sarajevo International Airport becoming a member of the American Chamber of Commerce in BiH (AmCham).

The potential establishment of a direct air route between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States was also mentioned. While no concrete plans exist at this stage, both sides expressed openness to continued dialogue and cooperation in that direction.

The meeting took place in a very positive atmosphere, with mutual readiness to continue cooperation in areas of shared interest.
