First RFS Line Shipped from the Sarajevo Airport
The Sarajevo International Airport has established the first RFS (Road Feeder Service) line on the Sarajevo-Belgrade route, implemented cooperation with the Air Serbia airline company. By establishing this line, the Sarajevo Airport has created new quality in the segment of cargo services, substantially improving its commodity transportation capacities. This type of transportation is common in the world and represents an addition to the air transport of commodities. It is mostly used for commodity transportation to such destinations where the airline company does not fly or to such destinations where regular airplane lines are not able to provide sufficient cargo transportation capacity. The establishment of the RFS line for Belgrade has facilitated shipping of larger size commodities with direct connection to Belgrade’s Air Serbia flights in the shortest time possible.
The Sarajevo International Airport has provided all logistical capacities in terms of storage and handling of commodities at the site where commodities will be received from senders. It is now possible to send commodities to the Sarajevo Airport every working day, and transportation will be organized by Air Serbia once a week.
The project implementation involved joint efforts on the part of the Sarajevo International Airport, the Customs Office of the Sarajevo Airport, and the Aviation Services Sarajevo as the principal cargo sales agent of Air Serbia for the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
