Meeting about the actions in case of health-related emergency cases
Sarajevo International Airport organized a meeting – the so called the Exercise at the table, to discuss duties of relevant parties in case of health-related emergency cases, having in mind available resources and estimated timing.
The subject of discussion was a situation when a captain of the plane that is about to land at Sarajevo International Airport informs the airport that on board the plane there is a passenger on suspicion of infected by an extremely contagious virus that could cause epidemic. The attendees analysed responsibilities and duties of all the services being involved in such a situation.
The activities discussed at the meeting are in compliance with the Plan of action at AP SJJ in emergency health-related cases, the document Sarajevo International Airport adopted in accordance with provisions of the Law on aviation BiH and recommendations of the Directorate for civil aviation BiH and the World Health Organization.
The aim of the Plan is to implement recommendations of IHR WHO (International Health Regulation World Health Organization) and BiH Directorate for civil aviation in each particular health-related emergency or an urgent medical case, as well as to reduce effects of a particular health-related emergency or an urgent medical case to the employees, passengers and the community.
According to the Plan, the agencies being involved include employees of Sarajevo International Airport, BHANSA, i.e. its Unit for provision of approach and air traffic control, the Institute for first-aid of Sarajevo Canton, Rescue and Fire service at Sarajevo International Airport, Federal Border Police, Sanitary inspection, Customs office at Sarajevo International Airport, Border Police Unit at Sarajevo Airport, airlines, an many others...
The following was brought into focus on today's exercise: planned and coordinated performance of relevant agencies while dealing with health-related emergency situations or an urgent medical case, involvement of human and physical resources and release of quality information to the public. All attendees to the meeting demonstrated their readiness, coordination and cooperation in case of health-related emergency situation or urgent medical case.
