WINTER AT SARAJEVO AIRPORT

The winter time-table at Sarajevo Airport became effective on 29 October, after all necessary preparations for the winter season 2007/2008 had been made on time.
In winter season usual ground handling operations of aircraft, passengers and baggage are performed with more difficulty due to adverse weather conditions like snow, frost, ice, etc. To enable air traffic operations without delays it is necessary to keep both the maneuvering surfaces and aircraft always clean.
Sarajevo International Airport has all the equipment and machines to remove the snow from the maneuvering surfaces and the aircraft.
Because of the round the clock readiness of winter team, the first heavy snow in the night of 14 November did not blocked regular traffic operations at the Airport.
It should also be stressed that the fluids used for de-icing/anti-icing of the maneuvering surfaces and aircraft are of such chemical properties that they environmentally safe and thus do not affect the environment and aircraft.
