Sarajevo International Airport among the fastest-growing airports in Europe

According to the latest report by Airports Council International Europe (ACI EUROPE) for the first quarter of 2025, Sarajevo International Airport (SJJ) ranked second in Europe in the "medium airports" category (airports with 1 to 10 million passengers annually) in terms of passenger traffic growth, recording an increase of 41.7% compared to the same period last year.

This significant result confirms the continuous growth of air traffic in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which recorded an overall passenger traffic increase of 41.7% in the first quarter of 2025, placing it among the fastest-growing aviation markets in Europe. As the central hub of air traffic in the country, Sarajevo International Airport plays a key role in this success.

Acting Director of Sarajevo International Airport, Sanin Ramezić, commented on this achievement:

“A passenger traffic growth of as much as 41.7% in the first quarter of 2025 is a clear indication that Sarajevo Airport is heading in the right direction. We are proud to be among the fastest-growing airports in Europe in our category, and this result further motivates us to continue improving our services and developing our infrastructure. I believe this success is the result of strategic cooperation and the ongoing support of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Government of Sarajevo Canton, the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board, and our other partners who participate with us in air traffic and tourism development projects. We are grateful for the trust placed in us and confident that through joint effort and commitment, we will continue to develop an airport that connects Bosnia and Herzegovina with an increasing number of destinations around the world.”
