Works on Building of the Cooling Chamber Completed
As we have announced before, works have been finalized at the Sarajevo International Airport on building of the cooling chamber. The chamber’s size is 230 m2, it is located in the cargo tent, and it is adapted for multi-functional purposes. Specifically, the space of the cooling chamber will ensure a temperature regime ranging from 0 to 5 degrees for transportation and storage of the commodities that are in compliance with the regulatory requirements for such a temperature regime, as well as the regime of the so-called environmental temperature ranging from 15 – 25 C, enabling the chamber to be partially used as a warehouse, too.
The chamber’s capacity is 80 tons, enabling the storage of approx. 64 euro-pallets. The cooling chamber will significantly facilitate the export of non-durable goods from BiH, such as meat, milk and dairy products, as well as fruits and vegetables, thus improving the interests of the BiH businesses and enhance investing into such and similar lines of industry in our country.
By launching this project, the Sarajevo International Airport has continued its infrastructure investments aimed at increasing of all of its available capacities, both in terms of the cargo transportation and in terms of passenger transport. Such infrastructural projects will ultimately significantly increase the capacities of the Sarajevo International Airport to respond to the demands and expectations of BiH exports and other business partners, while it has been envisaged that the capacity of the passenger terminal should be doubled from the current one million to two million passengers annually.
