Map of Airport Obstacles presented today at Sarajevo Airport

At the Sarajevo International Airport today was presented the updated Map of airport obstacles. The presentation ceremony was attended by the Sarajevo Airport Management and representatives of the companies Geodata, King IT and IGA-plan.
In order to increase the safety of air traffic operations Sarajevo International Airport last year initiated a procedure being necessary for preparation of the Map of obstacles - Type A. Having a map of barriers is of considerable importance for fulfilling conditions for safe air traffic operations as well as for preventing possible disturbance of safety in neighborhood of the Airport due to the barriers.
The project also includes a preparation of a data bank regarding the obstacles located on level of taking-off surface at the Sarajevo International Airport. Concurrently with preparation of the map of obstacles was also made a geodetic photographing of the complete Airport complex within the perimeter fence, as well as a 3D plan of the Airport complex, i.e. a data pool that will be a basis of the future Geographic Information System (GIS).
The whole process on realization of this project required extensive fieldwork activities that were mostly performed at nights in order not to disturb normal air traffic operations.
